Final Communique

Continental Consultation on the Draft Model Law on Labour Migration in Africa

From 16–18 June 2025 in Nairobi, the Pan-African Parliament, in collaboration with the ILO, AUC, and key partners, convened a landmark consultation to refine the Draft Model Law on Labour Migration. With the participation of parliamentarians, AU and UN institutions, RECs, social partners, and civil society, stakeholders endorsed a unified communiqué supporting a harmonized, rights-based legal framework to protect migrant workers across Africa. The Communiqué outlines collective commitments and next steps toward the adoption, domestication, and implementation of the Model Law across the continent.
